Owa-ru/syuu

to end/the end

Let's hope 2008 doesn't suck as much as 2007 did!

That's just Preposterous!

So, on my Mixi, the Japanese Facebook equivalent, I wrote a blog post.

I posted a picture of a character I wrote today, the character for 'cold', as in 'cold to the touch', or 'cold-hearted'
The text of the blog was "I spent today alone again."

So, a kid from school (a year older, and older sister of one of my 'friends') responds with a comment:

I saw you in the street today!

WHAT?!?!?!?
WHAT?!?!!?!?!?

That's just ridiculous.

Merry Non-Secular Christmas

It is 12:30 in the morning of Christmas, and I am attempting to write college essays.

Christmas in Japan has nothing to do with religion.

A Truly Brilliant Invention.

The Japanese cellphone system never ceases to amaze me. Thanks to no talking on the trains, most people send mail. Not text messages, mail. I can send messages from my computer to my phone and back. Internet, etc, whatever, you name it.

I have even designed a library that uses cellphone technology. Now all I wish is that someone would pay attention to my ideas.

Anyway, today, there was a new brilliant use.

I played 鬼ごっこ(onigokko, hide and go seek tag) tonight in a big park. But, this one had missions! Missions and all sorts of information concerning the locations of checkpoints, hunters and prey were sent over a mailling list system done on our cellphones.

Really really brilliant.

Actually, I've never had a cellphone in the US, but the ones I have used can't hold a candle to the ones I have used here.

News

I got off work Tuesday and Wednesday at 8!!! Oh wait, thats because I started at 10 in morning. Balls.

I have been trying to write a bunch of college essays, trying to work, and trying to sleep, but I really don't have time for all three, and I am having a LOT more trouble deciding how to break those up than I ever should have. Why is it that the first thought that came into my head after I finished work at the main office (I have been working on a new project recently, but its a secret!), was not to go home and sleep, but to go back to the annex and see if they needed help with the project that I had been working on?

So not cool.

Anyway, I have the day off tomorrow, I have calligraphy, and time to sleep/write/?

and a good old laugh:

Groan

After working till about 10pm on Friday (actually, we had a party in the office, for what reason I have no idea, but after the party everybody went back to work) I was hoping to get some sleep on Saturday. That didn't happen. A friend called me out for some photography stuff, and so I was busy from 10:30 until 1:30, and then from 2........WORK!
I worked from 2 until about 11:30 on a Saturday night! That was a blast. Got home past 12:30, slept until about 11, which meant that I missed my calligraphy teacher performing, which kinda pissed me off. Ug.

its 12:30 on a sunday and I have nothing to do but work on ridiculous essays

2007

In calligraphy today, as is often the case at Soryu Sensei's class (www.so-ryu.com), the last 30 minutes were games. The assignment was to write about 2007. What kind of year was 2007. Well, this can't really be done for me in a simple 1 or 2 character piece, like most people. So, I decided (and this took sometime) to do a 2 character piece for every month, which means 24 characters, plus thinking in all under 30 minutes, which was really hard! Anyway, that explains why the characters aren't nearly as nicely written as the last post, and also these are my own words and didn't have an example next to me to copy from. There are my words from my mind through my brush to the paper.

Read from the upper right, down, and then left, so it goes 退学 and then 探検 and then to 帰国
and so on.

January: I left school (the characters mean left school)
February: I explored (explore)
March: Returned home (return and then country)
April: A family member died of illness (sick death)
May: I spent with my older brother (older brother and then demon, just because!)
June: I graduated (graduation)
July: I have no memory of what happened, so I decided to go with fireworks! (flower and fire mean fireworks)
August: I met my calligraphy teacher (calligraphy)
September: I spent with my family (family)
October: I started working in architecture (architecture)
November: I was sad and I cried (cry and sad)
December: I will grow (growth)

At the end of the class, everybody gets one vote and we vote on who's work is the best.

I became the first non-Japanese student (I think he has like 340 or so students) to win.

Usually the student gets to keep the work, but the teacher asked if he could keep it and show it to other classes.

Oh yeah, I'm really going to get into a good college...

...when I can't even figure out how to rotate pictures to post them on my blog.

Wrong Brain Right Brain Left Brain Came Brain

I saw somewhere something about left or right brains, and I searched around on the internet for some tests, and read something here and there, and started to think.

Currently, I appear to be right brained, but if I look back in the past, I was most certainly left brained.

Weird.

SAT2

also known as
SATurday mornings Should be spent wAtching carTwoons.

I decided not to take the SAT today.

Instead, I took the SAT2's which was a good idea in that they are more important to me since I already have a pretty good ACT score, but not good because I haven't studied that stuff in over a year and a half!
An hour per test
World History 95 problems, pretty ok
Math 1 50 problems, super ok
Physucks 75 problems, less than pretty ok
